Faith can help teens considering suicide to try to ignore the temptation to kill themselves. Reading sections of the bible can also help. Also Praying to God to help lessen the depression helps.
We get a lot of pressure from today’s world, and many of these pressures can make us get depressed. We can get depressed over everything from the news to family problems and peer pressure.
Faith can help through prayer, and doing something to help get rid of the bad thoughts. It can also help to trust in God that He will help those that need it.
Life is a sacred gift from God. Churches can and do provide counseling whether in the form of organized or just someone to talk to. The power of prayer can help immensely. Talking to people in church and your family can help.
The news is everywhere and very hard to avoid. Television channels and internet sites all devoted to the news can make the world seem like a very dark place.
Pressures from work and trying to meet a deadline can also cause sleepless nights, and more depression to set in.
Sometimes teens can feel like they are the cause of family problems, even though in many cases this is far from the truth.
Talking to a friend can also help a lot. They can help by getting you motivated and talking about faith and God. When talking to a friend they can make you feel happier and try to forget your problems.

Prayer allows God to listen to your problems and with that said He will be able to guide you through your troubles. God is always behind us pushing us to do the right thing. Just because He is not physically there does not mean He cannot help us. Speaking to someone from an organization or the Church can help someone be at peace. As Heather stated in her blog, that life is sacred and God and the Church will always have open arms to hear someone one's pains and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Patrick in that the news is unavoidable in the world. Even if you do not hear the news on the television, there are still newspapers out there, and news passing by word of mouth. By turning your back to the news on suicide, your turning your back on lives of teenagers who are suffering and need your help.
Faith is one of the best ways to prevent teen suicide. Whether one even believes in god or not is not the point. The point is that having someone there for you is what matters most during the tough points in your life and a lot of the time for people that “person” is god. Faith lets you know that not only is there someone there for you no matter what, but that they also love you no matt what. You could mess up in the worst way and god will still love you. That’s what I love about faith that no matter what god always has your back. Knowing that someone always has your back is one of the best feelings in the world and that is the feeling that faith provides. Even though faith cannot prevent every teen from committing suicide, it can prevent a lot and has done so already.

Avoiding the news is not going to help prevent teen suicide because it will only but us in a sheltered box not knowing what is going on in the world leading to living a depressed and non social life which could lead to suicide.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Faith may be the answer for some teens. Teens wanting to commit suicide should get in touch with God and start going to church and pray more often. Maybe they are looking for an answer and for them that answer could be God.
There are many ways to prevent teen suicide and teens that are thinking about it or even have a plan to do so should seek help whether it be from a friend, God, a trusted teacher or a family member. The teen should try and reach out for help and if they do not want to reach out then we need to reach in and help them ourselves. Either way we can be one step closer to help prevent teen suicide by either looking to God or to a friend or to your family.
