  1. People need to know how common depression is among teens. They need to know how different factors can affect a teen emotionally. They need to know the signs so they can help. It’s amazing how common it is among teenagers and the rate that teens have contemplated this. Many people do not know how common this is. They need to look up on the net about how to avoid suicide. Parents can also help by being there even through the divorce. They need to know how to prevent depression. Depression is a problem in the whole world and it needs to be addressed in the right way. Parents losing their jobs in this rough economy can also cause a teenager to get depressed. The world around us is also a bad influence on our emotions. The news and media around us can also cause bad emotional responses. The news sometimes also portrays the future as being bleak.

  2. The statistics on the ratio of suicide between men and women is terrifying in the fact that more males do it then females. The fact that most suicide attempts in teenagers occurs during high school years can possibly stem from all the pressures. Many teens feel pressures in high school from older, "popular" kids who they want to image. They feel as if they do not follow those images they will be doomed for the rest of their high school career. I personally know of someone who first cut herself then attempted to take it to the next level. The cause of this was trouble with at home with her parents and a problem with a boy.

As everyone is at first, I was stunned to hear about this from a friend I would never expect it from. She first seemed so happy, but everyone else noticed a change in her behavior. It was not until we sat down and talked that I discovered her mother had drinking problems causing a lot of disputes between the parents. I come from a divorced family and was stunned by all the developments but suicide was not an option. I sat down and discussed everything I felt with a counselor and felt so much better after. Teens who have these thoughts need to talk to someone and prevent these thoughts.

  4. Its hard to believe that suicide is one of the leading causes of death among teens. But it mostly leads to the cause of parents to lead to their death. Their divorce or them arguing at home or being to hard on their kids. Some Parents should realize the impact they make on their children.

I had no idea that more guys committed suicide then women. I would imagine it would be more girls then boys.

Its scary to believe that any one of your friends could want to commit suicide and you would never know it. I know one friend of mine who cut herself and was depressed which i knew would lead to suicide soon enough. She once seemed so happy but it all went down hill at a random point in her life. I sat down to talk to her after i realize what had been going on and she told me her parents were constantly fighting at home and taking some things out on her. I soon realized that if i did not get help that i would not have her as my friend anymore. I talked to one of my other friends who was also friends with her and we both then sat down and talked to her. She said she had thought about it once or twice which made us even more worried. We told her we would be there for her and everything would be alright and whenever she felt to stressed or anything to come talk to us. Soon enough it made a difference every time there was a problem she came and talked to us about it. Some times just knowing that your not going through things alone can help save someone's life.
