Fact

“Suicide is the 3rd most common cause of death among people ages 15-24.”

More teens kill themselves than die of cancer or heart disease. Which makes suicide practically an epidemic among people your age. “

  2. People should know the signs of teen depression so they can prevent a teen from committing suicide. It is good to know the warning signs to prevent suicide. When one behaves differently from normal, it can be a sign of depression. Sometimes a person may not eat as much, or eat a lot more when they are depressed. They may also not care about brushing their teeth and other hygiene because they simply do not feel like it. Someone may also lose interest in extra-curricular activities and school work. I agree that more people should know the warning signs and how to handle the situation. They can also know how common the problem is. Many teenagers drive too fast and drink. These can also be the cause of the depression. Risk taking behaviors are also a terrible sign that they might try and possibly succeed. Family members have to remember to make sure they don’t commit suicide.

  3. It is very important to notice when a family member or friend acts depressed because it could lead to suicide. It is better off to confront someone of being different recently than to wait until it is too late. Teen suicide is a big problem and I feel it does not get as much attention as it should. Teens all over the world are depressed and often think about suicide, and a lot of them do. The warning signs are very important to notice because you could actually help save a life.
A lot of teens show different signs of depression. However, there are some common signs among teens that can show depressions. Drug use is a sign that something might be wrong because they need something else in their lives that is bad for them to stay “happy”. However, there are other signs also. There is always another option besides suicide and it is important to realize it and the signs that can lead to it.

  4. The warning signs of suicide are obvious if friends or family can identify the person acting differently then normal. Noticing warning signs are crucial to preventing a suicide attempt. If you see a friend or family member that even has the thought of hurting themselves, sit them down and talk to them about their problems, do not ignore the obvious problems. People who notice these signs should be open to a person that is suffering for they need the support from others. I agree with Patrick but to a certain degree.

Teens with thoughts of suicide should not be studied like lab rats, but examined as to what the causes of these sort of feelings stem from. From discovering the causes of the depression, people can put an end to the thoughts and save another life. Noticing signs later ends with preventing a death that will cause a lifetime of pain and grief.
